Sport

Ok, ok, I realise this is quite a broad topic but there is one area that encompasses most sporting activities that I really don't like and that is the amount of time they can go on for. I'm not a particularly sporty person myself, well when I say that what I mean is the sport I like has to involve an engine, but occasionally I watch other sports that happen to be on TV whilst I'm round other peoples houses.

Now don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with the actual content of each sport (especially the womens volleyball) it's just the time commitment your sign yourself in for when you start watching something. Take the tennis that was on earlier this week, the game latest five hours. Now I'm sorry but at what point (no pun intended) in the name of love (that one was intended) did playing a simple game of tennis become something that needed to last that long. If they get 3 sets each then have a tie breaker then, that's an incredibly simple way to shorten things. I mean if you were inviting me to play or watch a game then I might be interested but if you then mentioned that it might not be over until the time I'm 25 then I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Premier league football is another great example here. Again nothing wrong with the game itself, and infact if you move down a league or two then 90 minutes of action is most enjoyable. But at the top level the players are all paid too much and don't actually do very much. If you pitched (can you blame me for that pun?) me the idea of 90 minutes of a load of men in shorts falling over each other and having arguments then I don't think I'd be too interested. Now here you can either pay the players less of make the games shorter so if I do have to watch this same old drivel then at least make it a shorter waste of my time whilst I go spend half the money to watch a League 2 game which is far more fun.

I could go on but unfortunately I have a driving lesson now, one week before my exam. Whilst on the topic of driving I mentioned that my sort of sport had engines in it so you're problem asking well what about Forumla 1 then. My answer even then is make it shorter so it's an hour long. That's why I love the BTCC, 3 races of approximately 20 laps in length which has plenty of action. Although endurance events such as marathons and Le Man 24 hours should continue. Sports that are regular should be shorter. Is that not such a bad idea?
